Lord Porter is Professor and Chairman of the Centre for Photomolecular Sciences at Imperial College,London.He is EMeritus Professor of Chemistry fo the Royal Instiution of Great Britain.
He was born in 1920 and educated at Thorne Grammar School,Leeds University and Emmanuel Coolegs,Cammbridge,Where he is an honorary fellow.He was appointed Professor of Physical Chemistry at University of Sheffield in 1955 and Head of the Chemistry Department in 1962. In 1960 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society and he shared the Nobel Prize for Cemistry in 1967.He was Directro of the Royal institution from 1966 to 1985 and President of the Royal Society from 1985 to 1990.He has been the President of the Chemical Society of London.the National Association for Gifted Children,the Association for Science Education and the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

It outlines his work on fast reactions, occurring in times from milliseconds to femtoseconds, in photochemistry, photosynthesis and solar energy, and includes the papers which led to the award of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1967 for his work on flash photolysis. Lord Porter, President of the Royal Society from 1985 to 1990, is Chairman of the Centre for Photomolecular Sciences, Imperial College, and Emeritus Professor of Chemistry of the Royal Institution of Great Britain.
This book is divided into 11 chapters, each covering an area of Lord Porter's work. Each chapter will contain an introduction by Lord Porter, a selection of his most important papers in that field and a list of his other relevant papers.
